A clear scan in four steps
- Open the photo of the page. The sheet's corners are found automatically. Drag any that are wrong; arrow keys move a focused corner.
- Flatten and clear. The perspective is flattened, the smear is measured on the flat page and one kernel undoes it (a page is one plane, so it shares one smear), and the paper's shading is divided out.
- Add the other pages. Add, reorder or remove pages. Colour is kept by default; grey and black-and-white are options.
- Save a PDF or JPGs. One PDF, or JPGs in a ZIP, fitted under a size target you can edit — 2 MB to start with.
Limits
- No OCR: you get a cleaner image of the page, not editable text.
- Curled or folded pages flatten imperfectly; press the page flat and retake if you can.
- A page blurred until letters merge cannot be read back; retake it.
The longer explanation is in reading a blurred photographed document. For a single line of text in a photo, use deblur text.
Questions
Will it change what my document says?
No. No text is recognised, rewritten or redrawn. The page is flattened, one deconvolution kernel is applied to the whole sheet, and its brightness is divided by the paper's own shading — the same arithmetic at every pixel.
Why is colour kept by default?
Identity-document uploads such as Aadhaar ask for a clear, coloured scan of the original. Grey and black-and-white are there for portals that want them, and for smaller files.
How is the PDF made?
In this tab. Each cleared page is encoded as a JPEG and placed on its own PDF page at 150 pixels per inch. Nothing is uploaded and the PDF carries no metadata about you.
What does the size target do?
For a PDF, the whole file is fitted under it; for a ZIP, each JPG is. JPEG quality is searched first, and page dimensions come down only if quality alone cannot reach the target. The receipt shows the exact bytes, and says so if the target could not be met.
When won't this work?
On a page photographed so blurred that letters have merged, on a crumpled or curled page (flattening assumes a flat sheet), and on glare that has washed text out — retake those. It is not OCR and will not give you editable text.
